1999 is the year. Assume similar mileage. ES300 vs 300m vs i30 vs millennia vs TL

Oh man, I'm going in the exact opposite order that you listed them. I think the late 90's TL was a nice looking car, and it was more different from the accord than the the i30/ES300 was from the Maxima/Camry. The 300M wins points for weird and for space, but that's about it. Everything is preferable to a rebadged Camry.

300M is fairly easy to convert to RWD as it was designed to accommodate it (or AWD) at some point in the future (the LX platform), so there's that.

The ES300 is a Camry, which is a great car. Too bad about the sludge problems they had. Also sad that you couldn't get a manual transmission, even though it returned on the V6 Camry (this is about the time Toyota made the ES less sporty to make room for the IS300)

The I30 is the only one of the bunch available with a manual transmission, but it seems to be very hard to work on even by transverse V6 standards. What a bummer, because I really like this gen I30/Maxima.

The TL if this vintage had transmission problems. Later on they offered a manual, but not initially in 99 (I think 01 or 02 is when they first offered it, still the same generation though)

The Miller cycle Millenia is also kind of cool, but I'm worried about aftermarket support and parts availability. Skyactive before it was popular! And even before the hybrids came along!! (Miller cycle is Atkinson with a supercharger).

The 300M wins by default because its V6 is longitudinal, so service is MUCH easier. That's the only thing going for it.

Both the 99 TL and ES300 are inferior to their predecessors though (The 92-96 ES300 and 96-98 TL). Also, the 1g TL's V6 wasn't transverse, either!!!! (it was also available with an I5 which is awesome as fuck)

My stepmom had a '99 Millenia S that was badass. It would flat haul. And the factory Bose system was surprisingly good. The heated seats were perfection as well (never too hot, just right). It blew its motor in '05, though. I hated my stepmom so I applauded the car for self-destructing while under her ownership.

The Camry is awesome stop the hate :)

The 300M also wins for not having a transverse V6!

Camry's are awesome!

They're just not awesome in any way that's particularly interesting to me.....

In 1999, I guess I would have chosen a new Crown Vic LX plus more money in the bank for vacation/rainy day fund. But, I buy on basis of personal taste as opposed to status.
